Drones Attacked Sochi: Over 100 Flights Were Canceled or Delayed at the Airport

Due to a nighttime attack by Ukrainian drones, operations at the Sochi airport were restricted for over 11 hours. Some flights were rerouted to other cities, while dozens of others were delayed or canceled.

According to estimates by the publication “Ostrozhno, Novosti,” about 90 planes were unable to depart from Sochi or land at the airport on time, and another 27 incoming flights were canceled. Passengers also reported that some Aeroflot flights had been rescheduled for September 8 and even September 21.

Following the attack in Sochi, two oil depots caught fire, one of which is located near the airport. As a result, a cloud of thick black smoke formed over the city. In addition, restrictions on refueling aircraft were imposed at the airport.

This is according to reports from Russian propaganda media.

Over the past three months, Russia has been attacked by more than 40,000 drones, according to the AP.

In Sochi, Russia, a drone attack on the seaport was reported. Local residents reported loud explosions in the city center, after which people were urged to leave the port area.

On the night of September 2, the Moscow region of Russia came under a massive drone attack. According to the region’s governor, Andrei Vorobyov, Russian air defense forces allegedly shot down 56 drones over the region.
