Eyal Zamir visits wounded soldiers at Sheba Medical Center in Israel

IDF Chief of the General Staff Eyal Zamir visited wounded servicemen at the Sheba Medical Center in Tel HaShomer, Israel, on the eve of Rosh Hashanah. They included commanders and soldiers from infantry and armored brigades who were wounded during operations in the Gaza Strip and Lebanon.

Meeting with the wounded and their families

As The Jerusalem Post reports, Zamir visited various departments of the medical facility. He spoke with wounded soldiers and their families about injuries, recovery, rehabilitation, and the path to healing.

The Chief of the General Staff thanked the servicemen for their spirit, determination, and contribution to Israel's security. He also expressed gratitude to the medical teams, medical support staff, and employees who deal with matters concerning the wounded.

Statement by the Chief of the General Staff

According to Zamir, he was moved by what he saw during the visit. He called the actions of the servicemen who were on the front line, commanded, and risked their lives in battle a display of courage.

Zamir also noted that recovery from injuries requires additional courage. He said that the Israel Defense Forces have a duty to support the wounded and accompany them throughout rehabilitation, and wished them a better year — a year of security, hope, unity, and victory.
