Former Mossad employee Bahar says Israel can defeat Iran

In Israel, Dvora Sharifian Bahar, a Knesset candidate from the Yashar party, said that the country is capable of defeating Iran under a government led by former Israel Defense Forces Chief of Staff Gadi Eisenkot. She made the statement during the presentation of the party’s electoral list in Rosh HaAyin, The Jerusalem Post reports.

Bahar is 14th on the Yashar list. According to recent polls cited by the publication, the party could win about 23 seats in the Knesset. Yashar is part of an opposition bloc seeking to replace Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu after elections scheduled for October.

Statement on countering Iran

Bahar said that Iran was the main focus of her 20 years of work at Mossad. In her view, Israel has an opportunity to restore security by countering the Islamic Republic of Iran and its regional allies, including Yemen’s Houthis and the Lebanese group Hezbollah.

She also noted that Israel still has much to do in this direction. Bahar expressed confidence that, together with her colleagues and with Eisenkot leading the party, Yashar has a good chance of winning the election.

Experience in intelligence services and education

The 44-year-old Bahar was born in Tehran after the 1979 Islamic Revolution. At the age of seven, Mossad secretly evacuated her and her family from Iran to Israel. After serving in the Israel Defense Forces, where she rose to the rank of captain, Bahar worked in security for 22 years: first as a field operative in the Shin Bet internal security service, and later at Mossad.

If elected to parliament, she plans to focus on Iran, national security, and education. For five years, Bahar has taught Persian, intelligence, and defense in high schools from Kiryat Shmona to Eilat. After working in the intelligence services, she also founded the educational program “Security and Intelligence: The Iranian Direction,” which prepares school students for service, including in intelligence and cyber units.
