Elbit Systems unit in the US renamed Twenty-Six Defense
The US division of Israeli defense company Elbit Systems, headquartered in Fort Worth, Texas, has changed its name to Twenty-Six Defense. The new brand is intended to emphasize the American character of the subsidiary, Defense News reports.
Origin of the name
Twenty-Six Defense President and CEO Raanan Horowitz said the launch of the new brand reflects the company’s growth in the US market and its commitment to supporting US service members regardless of where they carry out their missions.
The number 26 in the name corresponds to the atomic number of iron. According to Horowitz, it is intended to symbolize resilience and durability.

Company activities in the US
According to the company, Twenty-Six Defense has 3,300 employees in the United States. After General Dynamics sold its tactical aviation division to Lockheed Martin in 1993, Elbit Systems of America acquired General Dynamics’ former manufacturing site in Fort Worth.
From its Texas headquarters, the company began working on avionics for US Air Force F-16 fighter jets. Over the past three decades, Elbit’s US division has acquired six defense companies, expanding its operations into helmet-mounted display technologies for aviation, night-vision systems, seekers for precision-guided weapons, and laser target-designation systems.
In 2019, Elbit’s US division purchased Harris Corp’s night-vision equipment business as part of an antitrust settlement following the merger of Harris and L3 Technologies. In July, the company also announced several contracts with US Customs and Border Protection worth more than $370 million in total. Their completion is scheduled for May 2029. The company has long supplied surveillance systems to this agency at the US-Mexico border.
