Former Vice President Bawumia honors Dagomba chief in Accra — MyJoyOnline

In Accra, Ghana, former Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia paid tribute to the late Dagomba chief in the capital, Alhaji Abdul Kadir Tahir. During the funeral ceremony, he called the deceased his father, chief and imam, MyJoyOnline reports.

A life devoted to faith

According to Bawumia, Alhaji Abdul Kadir Tahir devoted his life to God and preparation for the afterlife. The former vice president noted that the deceased's deep spirituality was evident to everyone who met him.

Bawumia said that when people visited the chief for ten minutes, he could devote nine of them to prayers. He also described Tahir as not only a traditional leader but also a teacher of Islam.

Attitude toward the Quran

According to Bawumia, the deceased constantly urged those around him to study the Holy Quran seriously. He said that solutions to the problems of this world are contained in the Quran and that studying it helps one draw closer to the Creator.

As MyJoyOnline notes, Alhaji Abdul Kadir Tahir was respected for his modesty, wisdom and commitment to peace among the Dagomba in Accra, as well as between the Dagomba and representatives of other ethnic groups. Bawumia said that Ghana had lost a spiritual pillar and that the deceased's legacy — prayers, modesty and devotion to Allah — would inspire future generations.
