Poland to Establish a Center to Combat Disinformation
Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk signed an order establishing the Center for Combating Disinformation.
According to Gawkowski, this will be the country’s sole government agency dedicated to countering disinformation.
“Poland will be the first country in Europe to create a single, unified center to combat disinformation,” the official stated.
He emphasized that disinformation—particularly that spread by Russia and Belarus—is constantly on the rise and is being used to destabilize the situation in Poland.
“That is why we want not only to respond to it at the legislative level, but also to effectively counter it in a timely manner,” the deputy prime minister noted.
According to him, the new center will support the Polish government in the fight against disinformation and develop a strategic framework for countering such campaigns. Gawkowski reported that the entire process of establishing the center was coordinated by Deputy Minister of Digitalization Paweł Olszewski, who is responsible for cybersecurity.
The Polish Prime Minister signed the decision to establish the Center for Combating Disinformation on September 29. The document took effect on September 30.
This was announced by Krzysztof Gawkowski, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digitalization of the Republic of Poland, during the 8th Cybersecurity Forum in Warsaw, according to a Ukrinform correspondent.
