Emine Erdoğan meets wives of presidents of Brazil and Sierra Leone — Anadolu Agency

Türkiye’s First Lady Emine Erdoğan held meetings in New York, United States, with Rosângela “Janja” da Silva, the wife of Brazil’s president, and Fatima Maada Bio, the wife of Sierra Leone’s president. The meetings took place at the Turkish House, Turkevi, Anadolu Agency reports.

Climate and COP31

Erdoğan’s meeting with Rosângela da Silva was held behind closed doors. According to Türkiye’s first lady, the sides discussed issues on their shared agenda, including environmental challenges, efforts to address the climate crisis and preparations for the COP31 process.

Türkiye’s Minister of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Murat Kurum, Zero Waste Foundation Chairman Samed Ağırbaş, as well as COP30 President and Ambassador André Corrêa do Lago, also attended the meeting.

Education and well-being

Erdoğan also met with Fatima Maada Bio, who heads the Organization of African First Ladies for Development. According to Erdoğan, during the conversation they exchanged views on the environment, education and the well-being of women and children.
