Cultural event for Mid-Autumn Festival held in Fushun — ECNS

A cultural event dedicated to the Mid-Autumn Festival was held in Fushun, in China’s Liaoning Province, with more than ten foreign guests from Russia, Germany, the United States and other countries taking part. They recited Chinese poetry, sang songs and learned about local traditions in the Tiannyu Mountain tourist area. This was reported by ECNS.

The event, titled “Celebrating with Friends from Around the World,” was organized by the Information Office of the People’s Government of Liaoning Province. Foreign visitors took part in a program dedicated to Mid-Autumn culture and visited several locations in Fushun.

Lei Feng Memorial and rural traditions

The group visited the Lei Feng Memorial Hall and also climbed Tiannyu Mountain, where the forests change color in autumn. Together with local farmers, the guests prepared cornmeal flatbreads and stewed dishes made from mountain produce for a shared dinner.

The participants also visited the Daguanyao Ceramic Culture and Creative Industries Park. There, they viewed exhibition halls and production workshops and tried ceramic-making techniques, which the report classifies as intangible cultural heritage. Kaolin from Fushun is used for the products.

Bonfire and lanterns

In the evening, the foreign guests gathered around a bonfire. They assembled portable lanterns for the Mid-Autumn Festival, practiced brush calligraphy, solved lantern riddles, and roasted oranges and peanuts.

Russian blogger Roger said that during the gathering he felt the warmth and atmosphere of a family holiday. Participant Zhang Xiaoai from Ireland said she learned more about the traditions of the Mid-Autumn Festival and Fushun’s historical heritage. The group is expected to next visit the city of Liaoyang, where it will learn about the cultural heritage of the ancient city and local industrial development.
