Five officials from the Ministry of Defense were detained in Kazakhstan following the deaths of 14 servicemembers in the Caspian Sea. Among those detained is the first deputy commander of the Navy. They are suspected of professional negligence and violating navigation rules, according to the Kazakh Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Investigators are reviewing the officials’ decisions, compliance with safety requirements, weather conditions, and the technical condition of the patrol boat.

The day before, during training exercises, 17 servicemen were swept into the Caspian Sea while disembarking from a patrol boat. The exercises were conducted under difficult weather conditions. As a result of the incident, 14 servicemen died, while three others were rescued.

In the video, a soldier standing behind a fence reads out the names of the deceased to their families. Many people were outraged by the way this was handled.

Kazakhstan has signed a contract with Rosatom to build its first nuclear power plant.

Hungarian Prime Minister Péter Magyar has questioned the wisdom of the agreements with the Russian state corporation Rosatom regarding the expansion of the Paks Nuclear Power Plant. The agreement was signed by the government of his predecessor, Viktor Orbán.

Ukraine’s Foreign Intelligence Service reported that the Russian state corporation Rosatom was unable to complete the construction of a nuclear power plant in India by the set deadline.
