Moldova summoned the Russian ambassador over the overflight of Russian drones

The Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned Russian Ambassador Oleg Ozerov over the violation of the country’s airspace by three drones on September 30, amid a massive Russian attack on Ukraine.

The most serious incident occurred near the village of Brănești in the Orhei District. There, a “Geran” drone equipped with a turbojet engine crashed into trees and exploded near a highway.

Debris from the drone was found within a radius of about 120 meters. Traffic on the highway was temporarily blocked, and the airspace over central Moldova was closed.

The Moldovan Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated that such violations directly threaten the safety of the country’s citizens and called on Russia to cease its attacks on Ukraine and actions that pose a threat to Moldova.

Earlier, Russian Ambassador Oleg Ozerov acknowledged that drones flying over Moldovan territory could be Russian. At the same time, he claimed that these drones were allegedly aimed at Ukraine, not Moldova.
