Erdogan departs for New York for UN General Assembly — Anadolu Agency
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan departed for New York, United States, on September 20 to take part in the 81st session of the UN General Assembly. He is set to speak on September 22, the first day of the General Assembly’s high-level week, when world leaders deliver their addresses.
Sixteenth address
This will be Erdogan’s 16th address to the UN General Assembly. According to Anadolu Agency, the main topics of his speech are expected to be Israel’s actions in Gaza, recognition of Palestine as a state, and possible international measures against Israel.
The Turkish president is also expected to draw attention to the humanitarian situation in Gaza and call on UN member states to take a position on Israeli attacks.

Meetings and climate summit
During the trip, Erdogan has scheduled meetings with heads of state and government. On September 23, he is also set to speak at the UN Secretary-General’s Climate Summit.
Erdogan departed from Istanbul Ataturk Airport aboard the presidential aircraft. He was accompanied by First Lady Emine Erdogan, Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Justice Minister Akin Gurlek, Treasury and Finance Minister Mehmet Simsek, intelligence chief Ibrahim Kalin, and Communications Director Burhanettin Duran.
