The EU has held Russia responsible for drone incidents over European countries

Leaders of European Union member states stated that incidents involving Russian drones entering EU territory are a direct consequence of Russia’s war against Ukraine and pose a threat to the security of European citizens.

The final declaration of the EU summit in Brussels mentions an incident in Romania, where a Russian-made drone crashed into a residential building. Officials in Brussels emphasized that similar incidents in other member states are also linked to Russian aggression.

The European Union strongly condemned the repeated violations of member states’ airspace and territorial waters and stated that Russia bears full responsibility for the consequences of its actions and any further escalation.

EU countries also reaffirmed their intention to increase pressure on Moscow and continue measures to reduce its military and economic capabilities. According to media reports, this is the first time since late 2024 that all 27 EU member states have endorsed a joint declaration.
