The EU will provide 2 million euros in aid to Colombia following the devastating earthquake
The European Union will allocate 2 million euros in humanitarian aid to Colombia, which was struck by a powerful earthquake on August 10. The funds will be used to support those affected and address the aftermath of the natural disaster.
This was announced by the President of the European Commission.
Von der Leyen stated that, in response to the earthquake in Colombia, the EU is allocating 2 million euros to support people in the hardest-hit areas.
“Following Colombia’s activation of the Civil Protection Mechanism, we are working to ensure that the aid meets the actual needs on the ground,” she noted.
A powerful earthquake in Colombia, with a magnitude of about 7.4, struck on Monday, August 10, in the western part of the country and is the strongest in recent years. According to the latest reports, more than 200 people have died. Search and rescue operations are ongoing.

The death toll from the earthquake in Colombia has risen to 254.
As a reminder, 169 people were killed and more than 3,000 were reported missing in Colombia following the earthquake.
