The EU will impose new sanctions on Russia in response to the airstrikes on Ukraine
On Friday, July 17, the Council of the European Union plans to approve a new package of sanctions against Russia. The restrictions will be a response to the regular airstrikes on Ukrainian cities and civilian infrastructure.
According to reports, the new package, which has already been dubbed the “anti-drone” package, will be adopted via a written procedure. Earlier, EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas announced its preparation, emphasizing that the new sanctions are intended to increase pressure on Moscow due to the ongoing attacks on Ukraine’s civilian population.
A new mini-package of sanctions against Russia, in response to the intensification of Russian ballistic attacks against Ukraine’s civilian population, will be approved by the EU on July 17.
“The EU Committee of Permanent Representatives (Coreper) has agreed to initiate the written approval procedure, so this sanctions package will be officially adopted tomorrow,” said one of “European Truth’s” sources.
The package, set to be adopted on July 17, will target legal entities and individuals involved in the production of “Shahed” and “Geran” attack drones on Russian territory.
