Levitt last spoke with the press on April 24. She then went on maternity leave and gave birth to a daughter on May 1. The press secretary had previously said that the family calls the baby “Vivi.” At the end of June, Livitt returned to work at the White House, and she is now once again holding regular briefings.
While she was on leave, other members of Donald Trump’s administration held press briefings. In particular, Vice President J.D. Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent addressed reporters.
Caroline Livitt’s return coincided with preparations for U.S. President Donald Trump’s evening address. He is expected to discuss the U.S. elections and the operation of voting machines during the address.
