Estonia summoned a Russian representative over disinformation and attacks on Ukraine

The Estonian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Russian chargé d'affaires and handed him a diplomatic note condemning the disinformation campaign against the Baltic states and the recent massive attacks on Ukraine.

The Estonian side called for an end to the spread of false accusations and also expressed strong protest over last week’s Russian missile and drone strikes, which killed 93 people and injured more than 500.

Estonian Foreign Minister Margus Tsahkna noted that Russia is attempting to compensate for its defeats on the battlefield with disinformation, and emphasized that Estonia has not provided its territory or airspace for strikes against targets in Russia. He stressed that Ukraine has every right to self-defense and to destroy Russian military and economic targets. The Russian Foreign Ministry’s statements alleging that the Baltic states were preparing to deport Russian-speaking residents served as a pretext for the Russian Federation to intensify its disinformation campaign.
