In Poland, a piece of a wind turbine blocked the A4 highway
Traffic problems have arisen on one of Poland’s key highways due to a section of a wind turbine falling. In the town of Terliczka, debris from the structure landed on the A4 highway, blocking traffic.
Drivers are being warned of possible delays and traffic disruptions on this section of the road. Currently, the relevant services are working to remove the obstruction and restore normal traffic flow.
On the night from Thursday to Friday, a serious incident occurred there involving an oversized vehicle that was transporting a wind turbine component. The component fell onto the highway, blocking traffic.
Police are reporting traffic disruptions on the A4 highway near Rzeszów.
“On Friday, by 3:00 a.m., the duty officer at the city police department received a report of a traffic accident on the A4 highway in the direction of Korczowa,” said Lieutenant Colonel Magdalena Żuk of the Rzeszów City Police Department.

She explained that the incident involved a truck transporting a massive wind turbine component.
“While transporting the oversized wind turbine component, the fastenings securing the load failed,” the police spokesperson noted.
The massive component fell onto the roadway, blocking the highway. Both lanes of the A4 in the direction of Korczowa are impassable.
“Traffic is being rerouted to the emergency lane. The exit to the S19/DK97 at the ‘Rzeszów-East’ interchange is also closed,” reported the General Directorate of National Roads and Highways.
Photos from the scene also show that the highway’s pavement was damaged as a result of the accident. Drivers traveling on the A4 highway can expect significant delays. Specialized equipment must be brought to the site to help remove the object from the road.
“Disruptions related to the removal of the oversized cargo may last until Saturday,” said Żuk.
