The European Commissioner highlighted three key developments for Ukraine
On the eve of the EU Foreign Affairs Council meeting in Luxembourg, European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos announced three key developments regarding financial support for Ukraine and its European integration.
This was reported by a Ukrinform correspondent.
European Commissioner for Enlargement Marta Kos noted that the recent elections in Hungary will have a positive impact on the EU enlargement process and highlighted three main aspects of cooperation with Kyiv:
- €90 billion loan: The European Union is ready to promptly begin disbursing a large-scale loan totaling €90 billion. However, there is a technical condition:
“If oil begins flowing through the Druzhba pipeline in the coming days, we will be able to start disbursements very quickly,” the European Commissioner emphasized.
- Opening of all negotiation clusters: Ukraine and Moldova have demonstrated full readiness for the official opening of all six clusters within the framework of EU accession negotiations.
“Ukraine and Moldova are ready to officially open all six clusters, and we are ready as well. So I hope the EU Council will act quickly,” Kos noted.
- Urgent budget support of €2.7 billion
Thanks to the active implementation of reforms over the past few weeks, the EU will be able to allocate an additional €2.7 billion to Ukraine. These funds will go directly to the state budget to ensure the liquidity and stability of the financial system.
Ukraine will not join the EU until 2027 — Marta Kos.
As a reminder, the European Commission has outlined another condition for Ukraine’s accession to the EU.
Von der Leyen also assured that Ukraine will receive a loan from the EU.
