Trump accused Iran of violating the ceasefire
U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Iran has repeatedly violated the ceasefire since it was established between Washington and Tehran. According to Trump, there have been numerous incidents that cast doubt on Iran’s compliance with the ceasefire agreements.
"Iran has violated the ceasefire many times," the White House chief wrote on the social media platform Truth Social.
The Iranian side, for its part, had previously accused the U.S. of violating the ceasefire. Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Arakchi noted the day before that U.S. violations of the ceasefire and provocative actions, including threats and attacks on Iranian merchant ships, are a serious obstacle to the continuation of the diplomatic process.
U.S. authorities, for their part, had previously called Iran’s closure of the Strait of Hormuz, as well as the shelling of several ships passing through it, a violation of the agreements.
Hostilities between the U.S. and Iran ceased on April 7, and Israel also halted its strikes. The ceasefire expires on April 22.
Trumpexpressed his willingness to meet personally with Iran’s new leadership.
U.S. President Donald Trump also announced progress in negotiations with Iran, under which Washington would allegedly receive all of Tehran’s enriched uranium without any financial payments.
Additionally, Israel agreed to a 10-day ceasefire with Lebanon and announced the start of a move toward a diplomatic settlement; however, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu emphasized that the war against Hezbollah is not yet over and military operations will continue.
Additionally, Iran announced new rules for ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz, which is one of the world’s key oil supply routes. Commercial vessels will now be able to transit only with permission from the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps Navy.
