The European Commission is waiting for Zelenskyy to announce the resumption of oil transit via the Druzhba pipeline

The European Commission expects President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to officially announce the resumption of oil transit through Ukraine via the Druzhba pipeline in the near future.

This was reported on April 21, 2026, by European Commission Chief Spokesperson Paula Pigno, who noted that Brussels is closely monitoring the situation surrounding this strategic route.

According to available information, technical tests of the system are scheduled for today, April 21, to verify its readiness for stable operation.

The pipeline has been idle since late January 2026 due to serious damage to the infrastructure caused by Russian airstrikes on facilities in the Brody area.

Paula Pinho emphasized that the European Commission is currently awaiting final confirmation from the Ukrainian side regarding the technical capability to resume supplies.

“We have heard, just as you have, that this could happen in the near future. We’ll see,” she noted, commenting on reports of the start of test oil pumping.
