The European Commission has stated that the sanctions against Tatiana Navka are justified
The European Commission stated that it has sufficient grounds for EU sanctions against Tatiana Navka—the wife of Dmitry Peskov, the spokesperson for the Kremlin and the Russian Federation as an aggressor state. Responding to a question about Navka’s lawsuit, European Commission spokesperson Anouar el Anouni stated that the EU is “very” confident in the validity of this decision.
According to el Anouni, sufficient evidence is required to impose individual EU sanctions. He noted that EU sanctions are a legal decision that can be challenged in the Court of Justice of the European Union.

A European Commission spokesperson stated that Navka is a co-owner of companies and real estate in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea—a part of Ukraine temporarily occupied by Russia. According to the EU’s assessment, this constitutes support for actions that undermine or threaten Ukraine’s territorial integrity, sovereignty, and independence.
The European Commission also pointed to Navka’s ties to Peskov, who is on the EU sanctions list. As El Anouni noted, Peskov actively supported actions or policies that undermine or threaten Ukraine’s territorial integrity, sovereignty, and independence, as well as its stability and security. Navka was added to the EU sanctions list in June 2022. At that time, Peskov’s daughter, Elizaveta, and his son, Nikolai, were also included on the list.
