The FBI announced that it had intercepted more than 700 drones during the soccer tournament

The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation reported that during the 2026 World Cup, law enforcement officials intercepted more than 700 drones that were approaching the airspace around FIFA facilities.

FBI Director Kash Patel stated that nearly 5,000 agents were deployed to ensure the tournament’s security, and a special training center for countering drones was established, where law enforcement officers from across the country received training.

According to Patel, there were no serious security incidents during the World Cup. He also called the security operation for the tournament the largest in FBI history.
