Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio discussed the security of navigation through international waterways, including the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, during a meeting in Washington.
Security of maritime routes
As Anadolu Agency reports, the talks took place as part of Faisal bin Farhan’s official visit to Washington. Saudi Arabia’s Foreign Ministry said the sides stressed the importance of ensuring maritime security and freedom of navigation through international waterways. The ministry noted that this should contribute to regional stability and the maintenance of global trade flows.

Yemen and regional issues
The Saudi minister and the US secretary of state also discussed bilateral relations and regional issues, including the situation in Yemen. According to the Saudi Foreign Ministry, the participants in the meeting called for supporting diplomatic efforts to resolve regional crises and strengthen security, peace and stability.
Saudi Arabia’s Ambassador to the United States Princess Reema bint Bandar, the foreign minister’s adviser on Lebanese affairs Prince Yazid bin Mohammed Al-Farhan, and the minister’s adviser Prince Musab bin Mohammed Al-Farhan also took part in the talks.
