Fidan is traveling to Moscow for talks with Putin regarding the war in Ukraine
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan will visit Moscow on June 16–17, where he will hold talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and is also expected to meet with Putin.
One of the main topics of the visit will be the Russia-Ukraine war and diplomatic efforts to achieve peace.
According to Turkish diplomatic sources, Ankara plans to reaffirm its readiness to continue serving as a platform for negotiations between Ukraine and Russia.
The parties will also discuss the security situation in the Black Sea and risks to regional and global stability. Turkey intends to reiterate its proposal for a ceasefire, which includes mechanisms for ensuring the safety of navigation and the protection of energy infrastructure and ports.
It is expected that during the meetings, Fidan and Lavrov will separately review the latest diplomatic initiatives aimed at ending the war in Ukraine.
