The film *Odyssey*, directed by Christopher Nolan, got off to a strong start at the global box office. During its opening weekend, the film grossed $264.1 million.
In the U.S. and Canada, the film’s box office takings totaled $124.5 million, while it grossed an additional $139.6 million in international markets.
Thus, "Odyssey" had the best opening of any film in Nolan’s career. The film surpassed the previous record held by *The Dark Knight Rises*, which earned $249 million in its opening weekend in 2012.
The production budget for *Odyssey* was $250 million.
