Finland condemns Russian disinformation regarding the launch of drones from the Baltic states

Finland has officially expressed its solidarity with the Baltic states and strongly condemned the latest wave of disinformation campaigns by the Russian Federation.

The international reaction was prompted by the latest statements from official Moscow claiming that Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania had allegedly allowed Ukraine to use their sovereign airspace to launch drones against Russian targets.

Finnish Foreign Minister Elina Valtonen issued a statement on the matter, emphasizing the unacceptability of such manipulations by the Kremlin.

The head of Finland’s Foreign Ministry clearly stated that Russia’s false claims, which are directed specifically against Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania, are a deliberate component of a much broader hybrid campaign to spread misinformation.

“Finland stands firmly with those countries that have become targets of Russian disinformation and lies. Truth and freedom must prevail,” Elina Valtonen commented on the current situation in her official statement.

Throughout May 21, a number of other European capitals also publicly expressed diplomatic support for the Baltic states and strongly condemned the regular threats from the Russian Federation.

In particular, Poland’s foreign minister emphasized that it is now perfectly clear to the entire civilized world who is actually the aggressor and who is the direct victim of this war.

Meanwhile, Belgium’s foreign minister responded to the Kremlin’s attacks even more harshly, calling Russia’s accusations against the Baltic states “pure fantasy.”

The Lithuanian Foreign Minister reminded that NATO could destroy Russian bases in Kaliningrad

In the event of a Russian attack on NATO members, the Alliance could launch a preemptive strike against targets on Russian territory, according to NATO’s Military Committee Chairman, Admiral Rob Bauer.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy considers it entirely possible that Russia could open a second front against another European state even before the war in Ukraine ends.

Earlier, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that the Russian army could attack a NATO member state within the next five years. This would test the Alliance’s resilience.
