Ford is recalling more than 548,000 vehicles in the U.S. due to a risk of passenger injury
The American automaker Ford has announced a recall of 548,463 vehicles in the United States due to a defect in the center console that could pose a safety hazard to passengers.
According to the regulator, the issue is related to the chrome plating on the center console, which may begin to peel and warp over time.
As a result, sharp edges may form on the surface, increasing the risk of cuts and other injuries upon contact with interior components.
The recall affects 2018–2024 Ford Expedition SUVs. The NHTSA notes that the defect may have been caused by deviations from manufacturing specifications during the production of the chrome trim, which did not meet Ford’s technical requirements.
To fix the issue, vehicle owners will be offered a free inspection of the center console at dealerships. If a defect is found, the part will be replaced free of charge.
The company emphasizes that the recall is aimed at ensuring the safety of drivers and passengers and minimizing the risk of potential injuries during vehicle operation.
This was reported by the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), according to Reuters.
Earlier, U.S. automaker Ford Motor Company announced a recall of 419,967 vehicles in the U.S. due to a potential seatbelt malfunction that could increase the risk of injury in a crash.
