France to Restrict Shein, Temu, and AliExpress to Combat Fast Fashion – Reuters
The French Parliament has finally passed an updated bill aimed at restricting the activities of foreign fast-fashion platforms, including Shein, Temu, and AliExpress.
The new regulatory standards were developed over two years to ensure full compliance with European Union legislation and to protect the domestic market from excessive oversaturation with disposable goods. The bill must still be officially signed by the French president to take effect.
According to the approved text, financial fines ranging from 0.25 to 6 euros per item will be imposed on companies in the fast-fashion sector as early as this year, and by 2030, the fines could rise to 10 euros. The legislative initiative also provides for a complete ban on any advertising of such brands and fully prohibits the use of influencers to promote such products on social media. Representatives of the online platform Shein have already criticized the adopted measures, claiming they are inconsistent with European principles governing digital services, while government officials emphasize the importance of protecting an environmentally sustainable model of society.

France has filed a lawsuit against AliExpress and Joom over sex dolls modeled after children.
The European Union is changing the rules for small international shipments. Starting July 1, packages valued at up to 150 euros will no longer be subject to the de minimis exemption, which previously allowed goods to be imported without paying customs duties.
