France supported the ban on Russian occupiers entering the EU
France supports the idea of banning the issuance of visas to the European Union for individuals who participated in the war against Ukraine as part of the Russian army. At the same time, a separate legal act must be adopted to implement such a decision.
This was stated by Pascal Confavre, spokesperson for the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs. He refuted reports that Paris had allegedly blocked the relevant decision during the adoption of the 21st package of EU sanctions.
According to Confavre, France supports the principle of banning visas for Russian military personnel; however, its practical implementation requires a new legal framework, which is currently being developed.
The spokesperson also described the 21st package of EU sanctions as the largest since the start of the full-scale war. It includes restrictions targeting the Russian financial sector, a number of banks, alternative payment systems, and approximately 40 companies in the Russian military-industrial complex.

Sebastian Tynkkänen, a Member of the European Parliament from Finland, reported that British authorities denied him an entry permit. Tynkkänen was prosecuted in Finland for inciting hatred against minority groups.
As a reminder, the Russian government decided to suspend traffic through a number of railway border crossings with Finland, Estonia, and Latvia starting July 1.
