France has offered to transfer all of its Mirage 2000 fighter jets to Ukraine
The French side has initiated a major defense deal under which Greece could transfer its entire fleet of Mirage 2000 fighter jets to Ukraine.
This was reported by Le Parisien.
In return, Paris is offering Athens significant discounts on the purchase of the most advanced Rafale aircraft, which will allow the Greek Air Force to carry out a rapid modernization.
The proposal was developed by Dassault Aviation, and the plan is expected to be officially presented during French President Emmanuel Macron’s visit to Greece on April 24–25, 2026.
This move is part of Paris’s strategy to strengthen the aviation capabilities of the Ukrainian Armed Forces.
Under the terms of the potential agreement, Greece could transfer 43 Mirage aircraft. This list includes 24 newer Mirage 2000-5 models and 19 older EGM/BGM variants, along with available spare parts.
Experts note that some of the older aircraft have already been decommissioned, so not all of them are currently in working condition.
However, their transfer will allow Ukraine to build a powerful air force and establish a maintenance base for this type of aircraft.
As part of the agreement, France is prepared to supply Greece with a “similar number” of Rafale fighters at a special price. The specific cost of the equipment and delivery schedules will be the subject of detailed intergovernmental negotiations in the coming days.
