France has imposed strict quarantine measures following a case of hantavirus
In France, one of the five female passengers repatriated from the cruise ship MV Hondius has been admitted to the intensive care unit at Bichat Hospital. The woman is in stable condition but has tested positive for hantavirus.
This was reported by French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu on social media.
According to official data, four of the five repatriated French citizens tested negative, while one patient with a positive result remains under medical supervision in the intensive care unit.
Eight other French nationals who were on the same flight as the infected person are also under medical supervision. They have been identified as high-risk contacts and placed under strict quarantine in a hospital setting, although they have not exhibited any symptoms of the disease.
According to Lecornu, isolation measures apply to all contacts without exception, and the situation is under constant government monitoring.
Two interagency coordination meetings are held daily at the Prime Minister’s residence in Matignon to monitor developments and discuss anti-epidemic measures.
In Italy, two young people were placed under a 45-day quarantine after a flight on which a passenger infected with hantavirus was present. The decision was made as a precautionary measure to control the possible spread of the infection.
The Health Center provided advice on how to protect oneself from the hantavirus.
