France is gathering Ukraine's allies for a parade on July 14 in Paris
France has invited the countries of the so-called “coalition of the willing” to join in the Bastille Day celebrations on July 14 in Paris, turning the traditional military parade into a political statement of support for Ukraine and European security. This year’s event will take place against the backdrop of an escalating international situation, and its main message is to demonstrate European unity and defense mobilization, Reuters reports.
Paris has officially invited the countries that are part of the “coalition of the resolute” regarding Ukraine to participate in the July 14 celebration, which effectively underscores the political subtext of this year’s parade.
The event will be held under the slogan “European Strategic Awakening” and, according to the organizers’ plan, is intended to show that Europe’s defense policy is increasingly shifting toward joint decisions and coordinated actions amid ongoing security challenges.
The military parade in central Paris is expected to provide French President Emmanuel Macron with an opportunity to once again publicly underscore his support for Ukraine and France’s role as one of the key coordinators of European defense policy. The “Coalition of the Resolute” has been operating under French leadership since November 2025, and as early as July, following the planned transition, its chairmanship is set to pass to the United Kingdom, underscoring the rotating yet collaborative nature of this initiative.
The coalition brings together about 25 countries that have declared their readiness to deploy multinational forces in Ukraine in the future following a potential peace agreement with Russia, and are also discussing mechanisms for long-term security guarantees.
Following the last meeting on February 24, more than 30 participating states confirmed their readiness to join the security guarantee system for Ukraine with the support of the United States, making the coalition one of the largest defense cooperation frameworks in Europe.
The French Ministry of Defense officially announced a major review of its military planning strategy through 2030.
French President Emmanuel Macron officially launched a large-scale program to build a new-generation aircraft carrier, known as PANG (Porte-Avions de Nouvelle Génération).
