French diplomats have returned to Paris after being detained in Iran

Two French diplomats who were detained in Iran returned to Paris on July 22. French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barro announced this on France Inter, according to “European Truth.”

According to Barro, the diplomats are receiving the necessary support following the attack, which he described as extremely serious and deliberate. They will continue to carry out their mission until its completion, but will now do so from Paris. The minister noted that this was their own decision and that both staff members are in a state of shock.

The French Foreign Minister stated that the diplomats, who were working on a program to support Iranian civil society, were brutally detained in Iran, even though, according to him, they had done nothing wrong. According to “European Truth,” they were held for nearly four hours without access to communication devices.

Barro also claims that one of the diplomats was subjected to harassment, mistreatment, and beatings by Iranian authorities. He called the incident an illegal and unacceptable act of aggression, promised to explore all options for a response, and stated that France would continue to support Iranian civil society.

On July 20, Jean-Noël Barro reported the detention and interrogation of French embassy staff in Iran.
