NATO Secretary General Comments on Fedorov's Resignation
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte stated that he does not expect any significant changes in Kyiv’s strategy following the dismissal of Mykhailo Fedorov and the appointment of a new head of the Ukrainian Ministry of Defense. The Alliance’s head noted his good working relationship with the former minister and expressed confidence that his successor would continue the current course and ensure continuity in the management of the defense ministry.
Mark Rutte emphasized that this personnel decision comes amid improvements in the Ukrainian Armed Forces’ performance on the battlefield. In his assessment, the Ukrainian army is currently performing much better than it was at the beginning of the year, having managed to carry out successful counterattacks in some areas. At the same time, the advance of Russian occupation forces is extremely slow and is costing the enemy colossal human losses.
According to the NATO Secretary General, the aggressor army loses between 25,000 and 35,000 soldiers each month, either killed or wounded. He called these figures horrific for Russian families and added that Ukraine is further weakening the enemy by effectively striking deep into Russian territory, targeting its industrial base and energy infrastructure.
A protest is taking place in Kyiv against the removal of Mykhailo Fedorov from his post as Ukraine’s defense minister, along with the entire government. More than a thousand people have gathered in the square next to the Ivan Franko Theater, not far from the Office of the President of Ukraine.
A protest against Mykhailo Fedorov’s resignation has begun in Lviv.
Pavlo Yelizarov, Deputy Commander of the Ukrainian Air Force, announced that he had submitted his resignation.
