Turkey has proposed that Ukraine and Russia agree to an energy and maritime truce

Turkey is proposing that Ukraine and Russia implement a partial moratorium on hostilities in two key areas if a full ceasefire cannot be achieved at this time.

This was stated by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan. According to him, this primarily involves halting attacks in the Black Sea to ensure the safety of shipping and attacks on energy infrastructure facilities.

Ankara’s main goal remains the complete end of the war, but an interim step could be to halt strikes on the most sensitive areas, which are important both for both sides and for the entire world. During his visit to Kyiv, Fidan also held talks with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga.

The foreign ministers discussed bilateral cooperation, the international agenda, peace initiatives, the role of the U.S. and Europe in resolving the war, as well as Ukraine’s proposals for achieving a just peace. Sybiga emphasized that Turkey has long played an important role in the peace process and expressed hope that Turkey would continue to contribute its capabilities to diplomatic efforts.

This is stated in the official’s Facebook post.

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated that if Russia ceases its attacks on Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, Ukraine will respond in kind. At the same time, he expressed doubt regarding the possibility of Russia announcing a general mobilization in the near future, noting that he does not have complete information on this matter.

The U.S. is once again proposing an energy truce.
