French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot stated that the shelling of UN peacekeepers in Lebanon, which resulted in the deaths of two French soldiers, constitutes a war crime.

According to the minister, attacks on the “blue helmets” are an attack not only on the military but also on the entire international community that granted them their mandate.

He emphasized that peacekeepers are in the region to reduce tensions and prevent escalation, so shelling them is unacceptable.

Barro stressed the need to identify those responsible for the attack and hold them accountable.
