Foreign Minister Lavrov and Secretary of State Rubio meet at UN — Jerusalem Post
Russian Foreign Minister of the aggressor state Sergey Lavrov and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio met in New York, United States, on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. The sides discussed Russia's war against Ukraine, the situation in the Middle East, and opportunities to improve bilateral relations, the Jerusalem Post reports, citing the Russian Foreign Ministry.
Discussion of the war against Ukraine
The Russian foreign ministry said that Lavrov and Rubio held a “detailed exchange of views” during talks on Wednesday. According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, Lavrov spoke about coordination between the Ukrainian leadership and its European allies, as well as Ukrainian attacks on facilities outside Ukraine.

The Russian ministry also accused Kyiv of actions it described as strikes on civilians and cross-border infrastructure facilities. The Russian agency claims that this allegedly destabilizes global energy markets. Moscow, at the same time, stated its intention to achieve the goals of the so-called “special military operation” and insists on taking into account what it calls the “root causes” of its invasion of Ukraine.
Relations between Moscow and Washington
According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, Lavrov stressed the need to improve bilateral relations between Russia and the United States as soon as possible and allowed for the prospect of closer economic cooperation. The Russian side also raised the issue of removing “irritants” in diplomatic relations, normalizing the work of diplomatic missions, and returning Russian property in the United States, which Moscow considers to have been effectively confiscated.
