Poland's foreign minister warned that the world is on the brink of a major storm

Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski, speaking at a maritime conference, cautioned against excessive optimism regarding security in the Baltic Sea and other key maritime regions around the world. Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski described current international relations as “the beginning of a great storm,” emphasizing the need for European unity in the face of threats of armed conflict and naval blockades

This was reported by Onet.

According to the diplomat, Russia poses direct threats to underwater infrastructure, interferes with the GPS system, and uses technically obsolete vessels, which pose an environmental hazard. Sikorski noted that it is a mistake to consider the Baltic Sea a NATO “backyard,” as this downplays the real challenges in the region. He added that the world has entered a period of multiple crises, where phenomena such as trade wars are becoming commonplace.

To maintain a stable course amid global instability, European countries must act in unison. Security, economic strengthening, and the protection of democratic values must remain the guiding principles for further development. Only the coordinated efforts of the “crew” of EU member states will allow them to withstand new challenges at sea and on land.

As a reminder, Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski warned that Europe should prepare for a new type of war—one involving the use of drones.

Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski engaged in a public dispute on social media platform X with Russian Special Envoy Kirill Dmitriev, who is involved in contacts with the U.S. on behalf of the Kremlin.
