The head of a German drone manufacturer is in hiding due to a threat of an assassination attempt by Russia
Stefan Tumann, the head of the German company Donaustahl, stated that he was forced to go into hiding due to threats from Russian intelligence services. According to him, this is related to reports of a plot to assassinate him.
In an interview, Tumann spoke for the first time about the alleged attempt on his life by Russia.
“I am engaged in a life-and-death struggle with Russian military intelligence,” he said.
He has drawn up a will, an organ donation form, and a medical directive.
“These are things you don’t usually think about at my age,” noted 39-year-old Tumann.
According to him, shortly before Christmas 2025, he received information from German security services about a Russian intelligence operation targeting him. Since then, he has effectively been living in hiding.
Tumann said he has been constantly changing his location for several months now.
He sleeps next to his computer. And as soon as he wakes up, he immediately gets to work to think as little as possible about his situation. The war in Ukraine has now become his “entirely personal war” as well.
Tumann’s company, Donaustahl, supplies the Ukrainian Armed Forces with combat drones for the war against Russia. He secured this deal at the 2024 International Aerospace Exhibition (ILA) in Berlin.
“It was clear to me that I would be targeted by the Russians,” says Tuman.
He spoke about this in an interview with Stern.
