Democrats leader Golan supports Arab party joining government — Jerusalem Post
Yair Golan, leader of Israel’s Democrats party, said he supports an Arab party joining the country’s next government. He said this on Kan Reshet Bet, The Jerusalem Post reports.
Golan’s position
According to Golan, the party is working to ensure proper representation for Arabs. He also said that an Arab party’s participation in the government is natural, correct, appropriate and democratic, and could contribute to real change after years of incitement.
The statement came after Golan met with three other opposition party leaders — Gadi Eisenkot of Yashar, Naftali Bennett of Beyachad, and Avigdor Lieberman of Yisrael Beiteinu. On Saturday evening, they signed a document on joint principles of cooperation ahead of the October elections.

Opposition agreements
The participants agreed to cooperate to increase voter turnout, refrain from attacking one another, and develop principles for forming the next government. The meeting took place at the home of opposition leader Yair Lapid, who is second on the Beyachad list. Leaders of Arab parties were not invited.
The leaders of the opposition bloc are seeking to strengthen coordination while differing over electoral strategy, the candidate for the role of camp leader, and possible ways of forming a government after the election. Eisenkot said party representatives hold weekly coordination meetings, although substantive disagreements also exist among them.
