The Burj Al Arab Hotel in Dubai will close for its first major renovation
The legendary Burj Al Arab hotel in Dubai is temporarily closing for its first major renovation since opening. The work is expected to last approximately 18 months.
This has been reported by the media.
The renovation aims to preserve the building’s unique architectural appearance and its status as one of the United Arab Emirates’ main tourist attractions.
The hotel officially opened on December 1, 1999, and became one of the symbols of Dubai’s rapid development. At the time of its opening, the 321-meter-tall building was the tallest hotel in the world and cemented the city’s status as a hub for luxury tourism.
Burj Al Arab is known for its architectural features, notably the world’s largest atrium lobby, standing 180 meters tall. The hotel has 202 two-story suites, with the smallest measuring 169 square meters and the largest up to 780 square meters.
According to official classification, the Burj Al Arab is positioned as a five-star deluxe hotel and ranks among the world’s most expensive hotels. The interiors feature approximately 8,000 square meters of 22-karat gold leaf.
The final cost of the hotel’s construction has not been officially disclosed.
Earlier, Iran stated that it could “totally destroy” the new OpenAI data center in Abu Dhabi. Because of this, the United Arab Emirates is already discussing additional security measures and will likely deploy air defense systems around the facility.
