Authorities in the Trans-Baikal Region are implementing emergency measures due to an acute fuel shortage and massive lines at gas stations, where drivers are forced to wait around the clock for fuel.
Regional Governor Alexander Osipov has initiated the deployment of hot meal distribution points and water delivery services for citizens who find themselves in difficult circumstances.
The regional governor emphasized the need for fundamental changes in service procedures at gas stations to make waiting conditions more bearable.
“People are standing in lines around the clock, some with children. I spoke with drivers. There is a need to adjust how gas stations operate and make significant changes for people’s convenience,” said Oleksandr Osipov.
In addition to organizing food distribution, the authorities plan to implement an electronic queue system and increase police presence to maintain order at gas stations.
The current situation requires strict control to prevent conflicts among drivers who are under stress due to the long wait.
The press service of the Trans-Baikal Territory government announced the introduction of a heightened state of readiness to prevent a regional-scale emergency.
Motor fuel is currently being delivered to the region only in limited quantities, which significantly complicates logistics for local residents and businesses.
