India rejects Pakistan-China joint border commission
India has rejected the joint border commission established by Pakistan and China. India’s Ministry of External Affairs said that this body has no legal basis for reaching agreements regarding territories that India considers its own and to be under illegal occupation.
India’s reaction
New Delhi’s reaction came after the first meeting of the Pakistan-China Joint Border Commission, held in Islamabad. As The Hindu International reports, India’s foreign ministry described the body as a “so-called” commission.

New Delhi’s territorial position
India’s Ministry of External Affairs also said that there is no border between Pakistan and China. The ministry stressed that Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh, according to New Delhi’s position, are and will continue to be integral and inalienable parts of India.
The Indian side linked its objections to the commission’s activities to possible decisions or agreements concerning territories claimed by India. The statement was issued on September 16, 2026, after a meeting of Pakistani and Chinese representatives in Pakistan’s capital.
