Inflation in Estonia slowed to 1.5% in August — ERR News
Annual inflation in Estonia slowed to 1.5% in August 2026, ERR News reports, citing Statistics Estonia. Goods rose in price by 0.9% over the year, while services increased by 2.4%.
Price dynamics in August
Compared with July, consumer prices rose by 0.4%. Statistics Estonia noted that, together with the figures for the previous two months, this means the slowest price growth in more than five years.
Head of Consumer Price Statistics Lauri Veski said that annual price increases over the past three months had been very moderate. The last time price growth was this low was recorded in spring 2021.

Food restrained inflation
Despite rising housing and transport costs, the overall price index was restrained by lower prices for food and non-alcoholic beverages. Prices in this category, which carries the largest weight in the consumer index, fell by 2.6% year on year. Clothing and footwear became 4.6% cheaper.
Among housing expenses, waste collection costs increased the most, by 53.6% over the year. Wood fuel rose in price by 10%, and electricity by 3.7%. Petrol cost 7.9% more than in August 2025, while diesel fuel cost 27.9% more.
Annual price growth was also supported by higher prices for fish, fresh fruit vegetables, and ready-made food. At the same time, fruit and nuts became 15.7% cheaper, dairy products 4.1% cheaper, and oils and fats 19.2% cheaper. Butter became 28% cheaper.
