Iran will not reopen Strait of Hormuz until conditions are met — Asharq Al-Awsat

Iran has said that the Strait of Hormuz will remain closed until Tehran’s conditions and U.S. commitments are met. Iranian parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said this on Sunday, Asharq Al-Awsat reported, citing the semi-official Fars agency.

Ghalibaf’s position

According to Ghalibaf, Iran must fight and negotiate simultaneously. He said Tehran would use military force to counter its opponents and diplomacy to consolidate gains on the battlefield when the appropriate time comes.
