Pakistan’s opposition forms committee for consultations on conference — Dawn
In Pakistan, the opposition alliance Tehreek-i-Tahafuz Aain-i-Pakistan (TTAP) has formed a six-member committee to consult political parties on a proposed multiparty conference. The committee is to agree on the meeting’s agenda and subsequent steps, Dawn reports.
Committee members
The committee includes Senate opposition leader Allama Raja Nasir Abbas Jafri, PTI chairman Barrister Gohar Khan, TTAP secretary-general Asad Qaiser, vice-chairman Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar, spokesperson Aghwanzaada Hussain Ahmed Yousafzai, and PTI core committee member Khalid Yousaf Chaudhry.
According to the alliance’s statement, the committee will contact other political forces, discuss with them the agenda of the proposed conference, and work to reach consensus on further action. Consultations and coordination will be conducted under the supervision of TTAP leadership.

Proposed topics
On September 11, the opposition announced its intention to hold consultations to convene an all-parties conference. The topics planned for discussion include the creation of new provinces, law and order, and the economy.
Following a meeting between PTI and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl, Barrister Gohar said the conference was needed because of the situation with law and order, the economy, inflation, lawlessness, and the issue of creating new provinces.
