Iran threatens to escalate the war in the event of new U.S. strikes

The Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has stated that it could extend the conflict beyond the Middle East if the United States resumes strikes against Iran. According to IRGC officials, in the event of a new escalation, Iran’s response could extend beyond the region.

This was reported by Reuters, citing an IRGC statement distributed by Iranian state media.

Iran has repeatedly threatened to take retaliatory measures against any new U.S. attacks by striking countries in the Middle East that host U.S. military bases. However, on Wednesday, it hinted that it could also strike targets located further from the region.

“If aggression against Iran is repeated, the promised regional war will this time extend beyond the region,” the statement said.

The IRGC did not specify exactly what geographical expansion of the conflict it was referring to. The statement was made following recent remarks by U.S. President Donald Trump that he is considering new attacks on Iran.

As a reminder, Washington presented Tehran with five conditions for resuming dialogue, including the transfer of 400 kilograms of enriched uranium to the U.S. In response, the U.S. is also insisting on a series of additional restrictions on Iran’s nuclear program and a cessation of hostilities.
