Germany has approved a €10 billion civil defense program

The German federal government has approved a large-scale plan to fund civil protection and military needs through 2029.

This was reported by Tagesschau.

The allocated funds will be used to purchase over a thousand special vehicles and protective suits, establish a central command center, and modernize shelters—ranging from Cold War bunkers to underground parking garages and subway stations. Defense Minister Boris Pistorius noted that the country will draw on Ukraine’s experience with mobile apps for air raid alerts, while Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt called for abandoning outdated concepts from the 1980s to improve the protection of citizens directly in their homes and public spaces.

Germany has provided Ukraine with three cogeneration plants for the Chernihiv region, which are intended to ensure a stable supply of heat and electricity.

As part of an emergency energy support package, Germany provided Ukraine with the first two cogeneration plants to supply heat and electricity to residents of Kyiv.
