Iran has suspended disability benefits due to a lack of funds

Iran has suspended disability benefits due to a lack of funds

Iran’s state social security system has completely suspended monthly disability benefits due to a lack of budgetary funds. The country is also experiencing delays in subsidies for care services and hygiene products.

The reduction in payments highlights the government’s inability to support its citizens amid a deepening economic crisis. The situation is exacerbated by ineffective government policies, a lack of equal opportunities, and limited access to social services outside the capital.

The economic crisis has caused a sharp rise in prices for medical supplies, leading to a two- to threefold increase in the cost of sterile bandages, catheters, and medications. This has significantly impacted people with disabilities who require ongoing treatment and rehabilitation.
