Iran has denied Trump's statement regarding peace talks
Iranian authorities and media outlets affiliated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps have denied reports of any negotiations with the United States.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry reported this on March 23, 2026, noting that the American side’s statements are an attempt by President Donald Trump to buy time amid ongoing regional efforts to de-escalate the conflict in the Persian Gulf, according to Clash Report.
Ebrahim Rezaei, a spokesman for Iran’s National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, emphasized that the U.S. has suffered a defeat in its confrontation with Tehran. According to him, the battle continues, and the lack of dialogue indicates Washington’s inability to achieve its goals through diplomatic means. The Iranian side considers public references to contacts to be manipulation on the part of the U.S. administration.
The situation is escalating amid growing discontent among the U.S. military, which opposes a large-scale ground operation in Iran, and Tehran’s ballistic missile launches, which threaten European capitals. At the same time, Russia continues to support the Iranian regime, using instability in the region to divert attention from its aggression against Ukraine. Tehran insists that a complete cessation of external pressure is a prerequisite for any future agreements.
Today, March 23, following talks with Iran, Trump ordered a postponement of strikes on the country’s energy infrastructure. According to him, over the past two days, Washington and Tehran have held talks on resolving the conflict in the Middle East.
Additionally, the war in the Middle East has damaged more than 40 energy facilities in nine countries.
